The American Association of Electronic Reporters and Transcribers (AAERT) Announces New Executive Director

Matt Riley, CAE, joins AAERT and brings extensive industry and association management experience


May 23, 2024, New York City, NY – The Board of Directors of the American Association of Electronic Reporters and Transcribers (AAERT – www.aaert.org) is pleased to announce the hiring of Matt Riley, CAE, as its new Executive Director. AAERT is the leading authority on digital reporting and certification programs for professionals engaged in digital speech-to-text reporting, transcribing, and associated roles. The AAERT certifications are recognized as the leading certifications for many courts, government agencies and businesses throughout the United States.


A Certified Association Executive (CAE), Matt is an active member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), and serves on the International Associations Advisory Council (IAAC). Matt has also been tapped to write articles, give presentations, and serve on committees for numerous industry organizations including the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), the Association of Association Executives (AAE), the International Association of Professional Congress Organizers (IAPCO), Conference News, and others.

In addition to serving in senior leadership positions in numerous associations, including the National Court Reporters Association (NCRA) and Shop Environments Association, Matt was also the founder and CEO of The Conference Agency, based in London, England. The Conference Agency provides event management, association management, and strategic planning to European and North American clients. Immediately prior to joining AAERT, Matt oversaw the association management and association conference planning division of International Conference Services, Ltd., based in Vancouver, Canada.

He lives in New York City with his wife, Jacque, and when they’re not working or traveling the world, they enjoy amateur motorsports racing in a spec Miata named Kristen.
