Tori Lawton is an official court reporter with the Appalachian Judicial Circuit in North Georgia. She is a certified court reporter (CCR/LERT) with the State of Georgia and CER/CDR/CET with AAERT. In addition to covering her circuit, Tori also assists in multiple other counties and freelances with depositions. She has a team of transcriptionists and a proofreader/admin who assist her in transcription production.
Tori’s extensive career in legal transcription began back in 2001 on the old Sony BM-147 tape transcriber. She earned her CET in 2015 and her CER in 2019, as well as her CDR in 2022. She was a member of the Certification Committee from 2020 to 2023. In years past, she was also a member of the Conference Committee and Government Relations Committee. Tori participated in a panel discussion about transcription tips and tricks at the AAERT annual conference in 2021 and was a panelist for the Court Reporter Roundtable at the 2023 AAERT annual conference.
Tori is thrilled to be elected to the Board of Directors for AAERT. She aims to promote our industry and engage with future talent. She is passionate about enhancing the court reporting and transcription field and mentoring aspiring professionals. She wants to bring awareness to the industry regarding our method of reporting, as well as showcase our industry to the younger generation.
